The service staff at Pet Lovers Centre (Bugis Junction) really made me smile today! From ear-to-ear! This man was so generous! He gave me 4 small bags of free sample cat food to bring home, when I explained to him that I’ve completely run out of cat food at home, and had to wait for at least 2-3days before my next delivery of cat food. Instead of trying to sell me more cat food, he gave me freebies to tie me over. How nice! Awesome staff!
Now… if only they’d take IAMS off their shelves for good. That lousy pet food company that does really cruel animal testing. Urgh. Read all about it here.
For nearly 10 months in 2002 and early 2003, a PETA investigator worked undercover at Sinclair Research Center, a laboratory hired by Iams, and discovered a dark and sordid secret beneath the wholesome image of the dog- and cat-food manufacturer. Dogs had gone crazy because they were confined to barren steel cages and cement cells, dogs were left piled on a filthy paint-chipped floor after chunks of muscle had been hacked from their thighs, dogs were surgically debarked, and horribly sick dogs and cats were neglected and left in cages to suffer without any veterinary care.
Am spending this christmas in bed because of a really nasty flu bug – this one came with the works from runny nose, to hacking coughs, painful ears, burning eyes and a really really sore throat. Blleeecchhh : (
The real joy this season was releasing Cheepcheep back into the ‘wild’. Cheepcheep was a sick bird that my friends Erica and Steve adopted two weeks ago. He’s a real sweetie that loves to sit on your shoulder or just nestle in your hand. Seriously, he’s more like a dogbird. But alas… it was time to set him free. Erica and Steve brought him over last night, and he hung around the back porch till late. I last saw him at around 10pm, before I went to bed. I woke up this morning at 8am, and Cheepcheep wasn’t there anymore. I guess he must have took off early this morning. Fly free Cheepcheep! We’ll miss you!
Missed it when it came out in the Cinemas, so I finally got it on DVD. I am a huge sucker for animal movies, and I’ve always had a soft spot for huskies *melts*. This Disney movie is both funny and emotionally engaging. As expected, I shed tears of joy and sympathy as I watched these 8 huskies strike out on their own in Antarctica. It was just heart wrenching every time they went hungry or got hurt. I also felt for Jerry (played by Paul Walker) when he was forced to leave his dogs stranded in Antarctica and had to pull out all stops just to go back to rescue them. The main themes explored in the film were good old values such as honor, loyalty and friendship. Good stuff for a night-in.
Ok. For the folks who want to see less animals being hurt for our sake, I found some cruelty free shampoo at Watsons (yes, if you ever tire of bodyshop) yesterday!
