Last night, I stayed up way past my bedtime to watch “The Exorcism of Emily Rose“. Momo was nice enough to come over to lend me his shoulder to cling onto. The film ended just before 3am, the witching hour, so I took the necessary precaution of sleeping with all the lights flaring till 9am this morning. :P

The film is based on the life of Anneliese Michel who experienced what is recognized by medical professionals as severe psychiatric disturbances from the age of 16 to her death, at age 23, as a direct or indirect result of an exorcism ritual. Her parents and pastors were prosecuted with negligent homicide, and the trial that followed her death pitted the age-old feud between Medical Science vs. Religious Beliefs.

Did she really suffer from demonic possession? Or was it really severe psychiatric disturbances? Here is a before and after photo of her:

Personally, I am inclined to believe in the theory about demonic possession. Only because I have seen possessions with my own eyes before, in fact, I even have it on video. I think that there has to be more to life than just this physical plane that we’re experiencing. So… yes. I believe in spirits.

Meanwhile… here’s the movie trailer to spur your imaginations:
